The contribution of Deshabandu Dr. Victor Hettigoda to this research was commended by President Mahinda Rajapakse.
The Research was conducted over a period of six months under the leadership of Dr. Devaka Fernando and Deshabandu Dr. Victor Hettigoda at considerable cost and effort. Sixty-five Diabetic patients were used in this research and results were proven to the effective in the control of their diabetic condition. The Siddhalepa Research unit will make the treatment available to Sri Lankans in the near future.
Dr. Hettigoda has conducted a number of researches related to Ayurveda and pioneered the production and sale of several Ayurveda preparations both in Sri Lanka and abroad.

Pioneers in the indigenous Ayurvedic industry, the Siddhalepa Group of companies initiated as part of its corporative social responsibility the school herd gardens project with the aim of including in the younger generation the value of Ayurveda, Over the years school children have been encouraged to grow herbs, particularly the threatened species, in their school gardens and to build herbaria as part of their extracurricular activities. The project is now operative in 25 schools island-wide.
Cultivating Ayurvedic herbs, identifying and classifying them, preparing and using compost, preserving herbs and appreciating the value of indigenous herbs through workshops and other activities are part of the project. Principals, teachers, parents and the community have all acclaimed the program as one of priceless national importance.

In addition, Siddhalepa has implemented several projects of corporate social responsibility in connection with the annual Esala Festival of the Ruhunu katharagama Maha Dewalaya. All the flower stalls along the Kiri Vehera Road have been renovated and painted while all the lamp posts along the Kiri Vehera Road and in the Katharagama Devale premises have been given a new coat of paint and new electric bulbs fixed thus illuminating the whole area for the Esala festival.
The name boards at the Kiri Vehera have been repaired and Lakpeyawa and Iramusu stalls provide these herbal drinks free of charge round the clock for weary pilgrims. Five changing rooms for women who wish to bathe in the Menik Ganga have been renovated and 200 plastic water buckets provided for use in the toilets. Awareness-creating slogans and notices have been displayed and twenty cement benches have been built on the either side of the sacred premises. All these Siddhalepa contributions for the comfort of the pilgrims have received the plaudit of everyone.
